Essential Tax Filing Deadlines For 2024

On April 15, the deadline for filing federal tax returns has passed; those needing more time may apply for an extension.

January 31 – Employers must mail W-2 forms by this date; freelancers or self-employed individuals must submit 1099s by this deadline.

Businesses using a fiscal year must file by this date as well.

Tax day

Individual tax returns must be filed by April 15 unless this date falls on a weekend or legal holiday, when its due date will move to the next business day. Today is also the last day to submit Form 4868 in order to request an extension on your taxes; any amounts still owing must be paid by this date.

Date for filing federal tax returns. S-corps, partnerships and LLCs with calendar-year income must file by this deadline as well. To request an extension they can submit IRS Form 1120S or Form 1065 to request it.

Maine and Massachusetts taxpayers now have until Wednesday, April 17 to file their federal returns due to Patriots’ Day on Monday and Emancipation Day on Tuesday being observed. Additionally, the IRS may extend filing and payment deadlines as a form of relief during hard economic times or natural disasters; this applies especially for individuals serving combat zones.

Estimated tax payment due dates

April 15 marks the deadline to file your federal income tax return unless you’re eligible for an extension. It also marks the last day to make contributions to 401(k), IRA, or HSA accounts during 2024 tax year; plus required minimum distributions (RMDs) must be taken from retirement accounts by this date.

Self-employed individuals and those with significant investment income must meet estimated tax payment due dates throughout the year in order to avoid incurring penalties on tax day. Estimated tax payment due date for businesses

As a business owner, it’s vitally important that you are aware of your estimated tax payment due date for 2024. The IRS requires quarterly payments based on expected income tax liability; payments typically due on April 15, June 17, September 16 and January 15. If payments miss their deadlines they can incur an interest-based penalty assessment from them.

The estimated tax payment due date for 2024’s first quarter estimated tax payment is April 15. This deadline applies to individuals who do not withhold income tax from their wages (such as freelancers and investors). Furthermore, it covers self-employed individuals using tax-advantaged retirement savings accounts like traditional IRAs or Roth IRAs).

Estimated tax payment due date for individuals

January 17, 2024 – The first quarterly estimated tax payment for 2024 is due. This deadline is particularly relevant for self-employed individuals, those with side gigs, or those who do not have income taxes deducted automatically from their paychecks.

Individuals owing over $1,000 in taxes this year must make quarterly estimated tax payments using the pay-as-you-go principle, and those failing to meet their deadline may face penalties.

Jan 31 (for calendar-year filers). This is also the deadline for those wanting to contribute the maximum allowed by law for this year, using private delivery service or postmark. Your contribution must reach us before then in order for it to be considered timely.
